Biography

My clinical experience over the last 25 years spans practice settings from acute care to school-based therapy, with a focus on geriatrics and home health. Essential to my practice is the development of strong, trusting relationships with patients of all backgrounds and circumstances. This approach informs my teaching style with a focus on active learning and real-world opportunities. I believe in the importance of challenging students to think critically to solve specific problems, and honing their communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, patients, and members of the health care team. I plan to continue to integrate an inclusive and accessible environment for both patients and physical therapists. In addition, I am an integral part of the Clinical Education Program, with a focus on our network of clinical education sites and the process of matching DPT students with clinical placements across the country. I work to ensure that placements fit students’ unique needs and interests while building relationships with sites to foster mutually beneficial partnerships. These clinical experiences are integral to the development of movement-based, ethical, and well-rounded future physical therapists.
