Midterm election voting rates rise nearly 17%

 

At the 2019 ALL IN Challenge Awards Ceremony held to recognize colleges and universities committed to increasing college student voting rates, 最新91制片厂 received a silver seal for increasing student voting rate by 16.8% to a 36.9% mark from the 2014 to the 2018 midterm elections.

 

鈥淲e are proud of this national recognition for our civic engagement efforts that are a direct result of the efforts of our dedicated faculty, staff and administrators,鈥 said  Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff John R. McCloskey. 鈥淭his is a wonderful example of how Alvernia develops students through the core Franciscan values of service, humility, peacemaking, contemplation and collegiality to become engaged citizens that better their communities.鈥

 

In addition, 75% of Alvernia students registered to vote in 2018 versus 63.9% in 2014.

 

鈥淲e are excited to honor Alvernia with an ALL IN Challenge silver seal in recognition of their intentional efforts to increase democratic engagement and full voter participation,鈥 said Jennifer Domagal-Goldman, executive director of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. 鈥淢ore institutions like Alvernia are changing culture on campus by institutionalizing nonpartisan democratic engagement efforts that are resulting in the incredible student voter turnout rates that we鈥檝e seen across the country.鈥

 

The is a nonpartisan, national initiative recognizing and supporting campuses as they work to increase nonpartisan democratic engagement and full student voter participation. The Challenge encourages higher education institutions to help students form the habits of active and informed citizenship, and make democratic participation a core value on their campus.
